I Didn’t Bring It Up. But They Did.

Updated: Jan 3

I didn’t plan to talk about hormones this weekend.

But by the end of the conference, five women had pulled me aside.

But somehow.

Every conversation led there.

Friday night, I was eating a salad and chatting with a woman I’d just met.

She was in her mid-50s.

Retired and now an entrepreneur

And tired.

We started talking about menopause.

She leaned in and said.

“Sister, this stuff is real.”

She wasn’t talking about a few hot flashes.

How quickly her body had changed on her.

The next day, I was at a lunch table with a different group of women.

Different careers.

Different cities.

But the same conversation.

They asked what I do.

I told them about my medical practice.

We talked about GLP-1s.

And dispelled a few myths.

Then it got interesting.

We started talking hormones

Menopause

Perimenopause.

And that's when the floodgates opened

One by one, they started sharing.

One woman said her weight jumped 23 pounds in three months.

That's two sizes.

Not recognizing her own body.

Feeling sharp one day, foggy the next.

And here’s the thing.

None of them lived in the same state.

But the stories were nearly identical.

That’s not coincidence.

That’s a pattern.

Weight gain was what they noticed.

But it wasn’t the whole problem.

It was a symptom.

Of hormone shifts.

Of chronic stress.

Of their bodies moving into a new season with zero support.

These women are brilliant. They’ve led teams.  Built businesses.

Raised families.

But no one prepared them for this.

And when they asked for help?

They were told to “watch their sugar.”

That’s not enough.

This is the truth:

If your weight changed and nothing else did.

Your body is trying to tell you something.

If you feel off but no one believes you.

It’s not in your head.

You’re in entering a different season.

But you don’t have to walk into it confused, exhausted, or alone.

This isn’t the end of your power.

It’s the beginning of your next level.

You just need answers. Not band-aids. Not shame.

If this is your story.

Or feels like it could be.

it’s time to stop dismissing the signs.

Your body is speaking.

I can help you understand what it’s saying.

Let’s start there.

Rooting for you,

Dr. Beckford
